THE first day of June, and supposedly the first day of winter here in Australia. It was actually just a little cold in the morning. Cold but not freezing, like it was earlier in the week. And by training time, the sun was out and conditions were pretty much ideal. We also had a larger number of people turn up for the session than in previous weeks; there is potential for some really, really strong performers in the women's division this year.
I wanted to have another crack at Fatboy, even though I doubtless wasn't recovered sufficiently from Wednesday night's session... I got a technical PR with the strict 95 but things felt a little strained, so I didn't push any further.
Keg toss is getting simpler and simpler. I was apprehensive of it initially, due to the potential for pulling something in my rehabbing shoulder. But now it's not even a consideration.
Progress with the 140 kilo sack was also made today, albeit lethargically. The sack was proving more of a challenge just to grip, less to row and carry... back strength is better now that I'm not hitting it so hard and repeatedly each week prior to events. But stamina in general wasn't where it needs to be.
Ash was back today. He thought it would be funny to wrap my new runners up in electrical tape. It was kinda funny, actually, but I told him I was pissed about it and told him how I hated him and stuff. It's bad for his self-esteem, which I'm slowly chipping away at with casual remarks about how soft and weak he is nowadays, and how short he is for a Strongman. For an adult human male even.
Because I hate him.
